World of Warcraft
So today marks a banner day and the World of Warcaft, no strike that not so much a banner day, as just an exciting day for anyone who’s a fan of this awesome game. Today from Blizzard we got the official announcement of the release date for Wrath of the Lich King. November 13 is the day and I can honestly say I considered taking a vacation day from work just so I can spend a little quality time with the new expansion. No I’m not kidding I seriously considered taking a vacation day but on further review, especially with the holidays coming up, and it would be better to save my vacation time until the end of the year like say maybe for Christmas.
We’ve been told that the expansion release will be available in both the standard edition and a special collector’s edition. Now I’ve been looking all over the web for where to preorder the collector’s edition and so far have not had any luck. I found a plethora of places to preorder the standard edition (which I will link to at the end of this post) but why settle for that when you can have so much more? The general consensus I’ve found is that Blizzard has yet to release the pre ordering information for the collector’s edition but we should see that sometime in the next few days.
This official announcement came on the heels of the news that content patch 3.0.2 has hit the public test realms for player review. As we all know, this new patch will be the last patch before the expansion hits and were expecting to see this patch go live within the next few weeks. Now that weren’t enough news for you, the exciting the celebration and that is Brewfest starts up on September 20 (this Saturday) and will be running until October 4. New this year will be a special boss who is dropping epic rewards plus a Brew of the Month club and much more. So be sure to visit the celebrants outside each of the capital cities! I am hoping to be able to post as I experience the new Brewfest content so stay tuned!

World of Warcraft
PVP! I love PvP in general but when it comes to world PvP, I get all kinds of jacked up. Why you ask? I don’t know, perhaps it’s something to do with age old “good guys vs. bad guys” mindset everyone who’s ever played video games has. Right now, I roll Horde characters only, it’s just a preference of mine really. When I’m hanging out in one of the capital cities and see “allies in <n00b town name here>, help plz!” I’m at the flightmaster in a matter of seconds. I mean, we all know Crossroads is perpetually under attack from the Allies. It’s fun to go and defend there especially now that I’ve got ‘ok’ gear to start doing enough damage to take some of the attackers down. (The pet tank helps some too…lol).
Defending Tarren Mill might be my favorite of all the lowbie/midbie towns that get hit regularly. Why? REVENGE! Southshore! Usually the group of 70s that wiped the raid wants to go return the favor to the Allies and head off to take out Southshore. I know a bunch of 70s on lvl 45 guards is no match, but it’s oh-so-fun. Occasionally you’ll even get a response out of the Allies who send in their small contingent of 70s to try and run you off. This sequence usually repeats two or three times before it dies down.
There’s an article over on WoW Insider about World PvP and what could happen to it in Wrath. A prevailing line of thought is that with the introduction of achievements World PvP will escalate. Attracting more players to seriously raid capital cities, not necessarily to go after the faction leader, but just to cause a general ruckus in the city itself. I’ve never been on a successful Stormwind raid, though I’ve been part of many failed SW raids, yet I’ve seen Thrall downed many a time. I’d love to be part of a raid that’s strong enough to completely wipe Stormwind. Maybe once the expansion hits I’ll get that chance! I love world PvP!
Of course I’m still looking for that elusive guild that will teach me how to raid in general… no news on that front yet.

World of Warcraft
I’ve had this site up and running for over a week now and I still haven’t posted anything about World of Warcraft. I must not be feeling well. So here we go! There are big changes coming to WoW in the very near future (read: November). The new expansion for the game will be out (reportedly) around then and everyone will be rushing in to check out the new content, the new goodies and especially the new Death Knight class. It’s exciting for me because I remember the hype surrounding the Burning Crusade expansion when it came out and this feels even more hyped to me.
I’m not so sure I’m gonna roll a DK right off the bat though. Right now I’m working very hard on lvling my alts up as high as I can get them. I’ve got one of every class on the Horde side. I mean, who really plays the Alliance anymore? Seriously. I mean, if you like raiding n00b towns and killing the flight master and quest givers, by all means. Roll a dwarf and have at it until a bunch of Horde 70s moocows stomp on you. Not that I’ve seen that happen. Or participated in the stomping. I digress.
My main character is a lvl 70 Blood Elf Hunter with a Beastmaster spec. Anyone following the news of the expansion as it undergoes beta testing knows that Beastmaster hunters are going to be well taken care of in the expansion. I’m not playing him so much any more as I’m trying to lvl my rogue and paladin up as close to 70 as I can get them before the expansion hits. It’s not easy. I’m used to running around at 70 and being able to do just about everything, I forgot how hard the grind up to 70 was. Oh well.
For now though, you can check out my 70 hunter at the Armory here. His name is Sorren and I play in the Shandris realm. I’m not in a guild at the moment because I’ve had a difficult time finding a guild that isn’t run by 12 year olds and actually wants to PLAY the game rather than zerg Astranaar all night. As such, I’ve got approximately 0 experience in raiding or arena. I do, however, play battlegrounds every weekend. My favorite is Alterac Valley. Least favorite is Warsong. I’d LOVE, L-O-V-E to get into raiding and 5-10 man instances but I still haven’t found a good guild to get into that yet. I can’t be a hardcore raider because I’ve got a fulltime job and a family, but casual raiding on the weekends would ROCK. Now…about finding a guild like that….
Anyway, so there’s my first post about my favorite computer game of all time. I’m gonna share a couple links with you just in case you feel like becoming a geek like myself and investigating the experience that is World of Warcraft.
WoW Insider. Probably one of the best all-around WoW sites out there. Tons of useful articles, info and links. Plus the comments readers leave are usually great for a laugh.
BigRedKitty. Yes, BigRedKitty. Perhaps the premier Hunter site out there, even though he rolls a dwarf. It’s the place you need to go to learn how not to be a Huntard.
And of course, the Official World of Warcraft Site. You gotta start somewhere and chances are, this is a good place.
