Party, Party

What's Your -ness?Saturday evening after a very LARGE meal courtesy of Applebee’s Carside To-Go.  Today is my father-in-law’s 51st birthday and to celebrate we went to visit and had dinner with them.  I ate too much.  Anyone who has seen any recent pictures of me knows that I do that frequently.  I had some roasted turkey ciabatta sandwich and some boneless wing things.  Too many of them.  Haha.  My father in law isn’t the big celebratory hulabaloo type person, though I do really think he enjoyed the company and the meal.

He does love to cook, and he uses only cast iron cookware and so as Christy and I were on our way back from Scranton last weekend, we ate breakfast at a Cracker Barrel somewhere in the middle of PA.

(Note to self: Learn to make chicken fried steak)

Browsing through their store, we found a small piece of cookware that could probably be used to make cornbread.  (He makes really GOOD cornbread).  So we got it.  Along with some of those Chunky candybar thingies that I’ve never had and are very hard to find.  (Cracker Barrel had them…go figure). Those are his favorite and I spotted them in the middle of a candy display in their store.

Tomorrow is party #2.  Christy’s grandpa turns 80 and there’s apparently a huge bash at my inlaws for him.  I’ve been requested to make something for the occasion since it’s been said I’m the ‘gourmet’ cook in the house.  I’m not sure I deserve that title.  If randomly throwing ingredients together and hoping it doesn burn yet cooks enough not to be raw defines ‘gourmet’ then ok, I’ll accept the title.  Anyway, I’ve picked out what I want to make tomorrow morning and I’ll share the recipe if it turns out well.

We watched You, Me and Dupree tonight for our family movie night.  First time I’ve ever seen it was actually funnier than I expected.  Christy thought so too.  Brae didn’t quite get all the humor but he laughed pretty much whenever we did.

Right now though, I’m stuffed and exhausted.  I’m going to waste some more time in the world of Azeroth because, as you know, it’s my favorite place to be other than with my family.  (I rhymed.  w00t!).
